17 July | PALLIATIVE NOISE

  • 21 playhouse lane Adelaide, SA 5000 Australia (map)

PALLIATIVE NOISE:
Indulge in asking the question - Is life little more than a symptom of death? From the moment we are born, we have started to die. What noise do we engage in to satiate this reality?

Join us for a series of dark and impactful performances themed around a shared dialogue on our own mortality, and how we distract ourselves from impending disintegration.

Featuring live performances from North American powerviolence iconoclasts IRON LUNG, Dark electronica by MESSIANIC GLOSS, a dynamic sound and movement collaboration from MARCUS WHALE (nsw) and ANDREA ILLES (vic), debut noise collaboration from ANONAME and VILECHRIST, with drone installation and performance from HARRY FREEMAN + visual direction and operation by CAPITAL WASTE and additional sound support from RUG CLUB.

----------------------------------

IRON LUNG (USA)
Crushing 2 piece powerviolence, performing live since 1999. Also operate a long running independent record label under the same moniker, platforming some of the finest acts from the global underground. This is the band's 4th tour of Australia. Known from their dark and misanthropic themes, Iron Lung have pushed an uncompromising musical vision, unaffected by trends or outside influence for over 20 years. A unique collaboration of complete sonic violence. Highly recommended!

----------------------------------

MESSIANIC GLOSS
Noise + light duo, hardware based electronica. An ever evolving and improvised response. Dark and atmospheric. Hypnotic and iterative, the duo have continued to persue excellence in both live performance and their own curated series of events under the moniker Misanthropic Grief Club.

----------------------------------

MARCUS WHALE x ANDREA ILLÉS (NSW / VIC)
An exciting collaboration from 2 incredible artists, Marcus Whale (NSW) and Andrea Illes (VIC) are known respectively for their bodies of work addressing themes of renewal, queer and trans identity, the physical form, voyeurism, and states of ecstasy. Not shying away from confrontation, each have performed extensively including appearances at Dark Mofo, Vivid, Rising, Soft Centre, and more.
----------------------------------

ANONAME x VILECHRIST
Debut collaboration featuring multidisciplinary artist Anoname known for her impeccably paced approach to crafting atmosphere through sound with emerging harsh noise act Vilechrist. Guaranteed to be both equal parts harsh and foreboding.

----------------------------------

HARRY FREEMAN
Rare appearance from renowned Kaurna Yerta percussionist, Harry Freeman. In this installation Harry will build and control a resonate wall sound through the tuning and manipulation of various percussive elements. The effect is a complete enveloping of a large thick and droning sound that washes over the audience with distinct physicality.

---------------------------------

CAPITAL WASTE
Visual direction from the master of E-waste and destroyer of vertical hold. Capital Waste has built an incredible body of work across years of creative output with a focus on eye melting visuals, and unique installation work.

----------------------------------

RUG CLUB
Additional sound support provided by Rug Club speaker collective. Hand built speaker stacks to translate sound waves into physical form.
